Inspirational

July has been a great month and I will share some of our fun later but I received this email today and I thought it was too good not to share.

There was this young man and his father...

The son asked his father, 'Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?'. The father, despite having a heart condition, said 'Yes'.

They went on to complete the marathon together.

Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together.

One day the son made a suggestion - 'Dad, let's do the Ironman together.' Again, his father said, 'Yes'.

For those who don't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon of all. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island. The father and son went on to complete the race together.

Brace yourself and watch the VIDEO.

Little Book Worm

So I have an idea and I want some feed back. I'm thinking about starting a side blog about children's books. Hayden loves books and I go to the library and pick out random books and some are awesome and some not so awesome (which I guess is part of the fun), but I was thinking it would be cool to have a place where you could get suggestions for tried and true awesome kids books. So my question is: what do you think? Would you check out that kind of blog or no? Would you like to be a contributor on a blog like that?

Here is a taste of one of the cute books I found this time at the library.

It's called "Who Ate All the Cookie Dough?" By Karen Beaumont

Hayden really liked this book. The repetition and rhymes reminded me of the question-and-answer rhythm of Bill Martin, Jr.'s "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?". This book was great for chant-along story time with Hayden he loved joining in asking "who ate all the cookie dough?". It would also work for beginning readers.

Anyway, I have always loved children's books even before I had Hayden so I think this would be fun. Let me know what you think.

Happy Birthday Ty!!

Here is a little trip down memory lane for Tyler. Happy Birthday babe! We are so blessed to have you in our lives.

We had such a fun weekend celebrating Ty's birthday. Kit (Ty's brother) came down and took him to Indiana Jones and hung out with us during the day. Then for dinner Ty, Hayden and I went to Rodizio's Grill,(Ty's favorite restaurant)SO YUMMY. Then on Friday we went to the Zoo, rode the train and the new carousel and also went and saw Wall.E. Then Saturday we went up to Kamas and ate at the Gateway Grill with Ty's family, sent Hayden home with Grandma and Grandpa and went and stayed at the Blue Boar Inn in Midway. So it was a fun filled weekend.
